Unintentional drowning is the leading cause of death in toddlers aged one to four in Florida. A child can die from drowning in the time it takes to answer the telephone.

Swimming is a sport that can save lives. The Fort Lauderdale Aquatics (FLA) Foundation was created in May 2007 to encourage and promote the sport of swimming within our community. With thousands of backyard and public swimming pools, lakes, canals, the Everglades and the ocean all easily accessible, the need for swimming is critical.

Drowning is preventable and you too can play a role, big or small, in supporting our efforts.
